Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta, Italy
Grazia Devigili is a consultant neurologist, she is the coordinator of the Autonomic Nervous System Lab, at the Movement disorders and Clinical Neurophysiology Units at the Neurological Institute Carlo Besta of Milan, Italy.
She has a long-standing expertise in the immunohistochemical processing of skin innervation biopsy and nerve biopsy, achieved at the Skin biopsy Lab of Besta Institute, Milan supervised by prof Giuseppe Lauria, and at the University Hospital of Würzburg, Germany, supervised by prof Claudia Sommer. She then received the PhD in Biomedical Sciences, at the University of Ferrara, working on projects regarding morphological and morphometric evaluation of skin biopsy and a broad of neurophysiological techniques applied to sensory neuropathies and neuropathic pain. Her currently research activity focus on defining clinical, molecular and neurophysiological features in small fiber neuropathy and other condition of neuropathic pain, to investigate the underlying pain mechanisms and patient’s stratification for clinical trials.
She is also involved in the study of autonomic nervous system in neurodegenerative disorders, to discover novel biomarkers of the diseases by the evaluation of misfolded proteins aggregates and innervation on skin samples.
